Michael Poirier

Michael Poirier is a dedicated researcher whose work focuses on the most personal dimension of the Titanic story: the lives of the individual passengers and crew who sailed on her maiden voyage. Based in Maryland, he has spent years piecing together biographical records, family histories, and documentary evidence for the men, women, and children aboard the ship.

He is a significant contributor to Encyclopedia Titanica — the most comprehensive online database of Titanic passengers and crew — where his meticulous biographical profiles have helped countless researchers, descendants, and enthusiasts understand who was truly aboard the ship on the night of April 14, 1912.

Poirier's approach is resolutely human-centred: behind every name on the manifest is a life, a family, and a story. His work ensures those stories are preserved with accuracy and respect.
