About the Organization

The Titanic Historical Society is the world's oldest Titanic organisation, founded on July 7, 1963 — more than two decades before the discovery of the wreck — by Edward S. Kamuda and five others under the original name Titanic Enthusiasts of America. Based in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, it operates the world's largest collection of non-salvaged Titanic artifacts and memorabilia, described by the Tampa Tribune as unparalleled in private hands.

The Society publishes The Titanic Commutator, a quarterly journal of record for Titanic research, and hosts an annual convention that has brought together survivors, historians, and enthusiasts across six decades. Among the Society's historians is Don Lynch, author of Titanic: An Illustrated History with artist Ken Marschall — both members of the Historic Ships Network.

As the founding institution of the global Titanic community, the Titanic Historical Society holds a place of unique honour within the Historic Ships Network. Its six decades of scholarship and preservation form the bedrock upon which all subsequent Titanic research has been built.
